Karma Automotive is recalling 269 Revero sports sedans due to a problem with their turn signals. This recall affects various models, including the GT, GTS, GS-6, GS-6s, and GS-6L, all made between July 16, 2019, and December 21, 2022.
According to the NHTSA report, there is a concern that the turn signals in the Revero could stop working correctly. This issue involves the indicator circuit, which might keep the turn signal on longer than needed because of incorrect signals from the Vehicle Control Module (VCM). Since this problem comes and goes, it doesn’t happen the same way every time on the same car.
Karma estimates this issue happens about 2.3 to 3.8 times per vehicle each month. Drivers will notice a fast-repeating turn signal and a warning light on the dashboard when this happens. The NHTSA warns that ignoring this problem could lead to a crash. Although it might not seem like a big problem, it could cause confusion, especially at higher speeds, where other drivers might think the Karma is turning and move into its path. Karma confirms there have been no injuries, deaths, or property damage caused by this issue.
To fix this, Karma dealers will replace the affected vehicles’ headlights and update the software at no cost to the owners. Recently, 13 cars were brought to dealerships with this issue, and 98 customers also reported it through Karma Cloud Services.
Affected Karma owners will receive letters about the recall by July 25. They can also contact Karma directly at 1-855-288-6109, and the NHTSA recall number is 24V-379. Originally, the Karma Revero and GS-6 models started as the Fisker Karma, an electric sports sedan introduced in 2011. The company was renamed Karma after a Chinese firm bought its design and manufacturing facilities in 2014. Since then, Karma has continued producing these hybrid sedans, although in small quantities.
However, Karma has more models in the pipeline. Last year, they revealed the impressive Kaveya electric grand tourer, known for its striking design, top speed of 180 mph, and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in under three seconds. Karma teased the Gyesera in March, an upcoming all-electric sedan expected to replace the GS-6 model.
