A safety concern has prompted Kia America to recall certain vehicles due to a potential fire risk with the driver and passenger side power seat motors.

According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a misalignment caused by external impact to the seat controls could lead to overheating of the motor.

If you own a Kia Telluride produced between January 2019 and May 2024, there’s an important safety recall to be aware of.

The issue involves a potential fire risk due to the overheating of the front power seat motor. This overheating can occur if the seat slide knob gets stuck.

To address this, Kia is issuing a recall and urging owners to park their vehicles outdoors until the repair is complete.

This advisory will remain in effect until dealers replace the seat slide knob and install a reinforcement bracket for the power seat switch back cover. These repairs will prevent damage and dislodgement of the knob from external impacts.
