A roaring success upon its introduction in 2001, the Lamborghini Murcielago quickly stole the heart of rapper Busta Rhymes.
Designed by Luc Donckerwolke, the successor to the Diablo, the Murcielago was a head-turner with its sharp angles, scissor doors, and undeniable charisma. Busta Rhymes wasn’t one to wait, and in 2002 he became an early adopter, selecting a unique color combination – a vibrant Verde Ithaca exterior contrasted with a Snowcorn white interior accented with pops of lime green.
A subtle nod to his crew, the Flipmode Squad, found its way onto the headrests with their logo prominently displayed. One particularly interesting feature was a button aptly named “Bat Wings” – pressing it opened the rear air intakes, ensuring the mid-mounted V12 engine stayed cool.
However, Busta Rhymes’ vision for his Murcielago didn’t end there. Taking delivery, he personalized it further with a dazzling starlight headliner and a set of chrome wheels, although these were later swapped for a more understated set of 18-inch black Hercules wheels from an LP640.
A true head-turner in the early 2000s, rapper Busta Rhymes’ Lamborghini Murcielago is up for grabs. This Italian stallion boasted a monstrous 6.2-liter V12 engine, churning out 572 horsepower and launching it from 0 to 62 mph in a heart-stopping 3.8 seconds.
All four wheels were clawed at by a six-speed manual transmission, making this a true driver’s machine. While the Murcielago’s low-slung design provided undeniable presence, it did come at the expense of some practicality – the slanted windows and wide A-pillars made seeing out a bit of a challenge.
Despite this, the Murcielago remained a legend, and Busta Rhymes’ well-documented ownership adds another layer of allure to this low-mileage (4,512 miles) example. Though it has some cosmetic blemishes and needs a little mechanical TLC, the chance to own a piece of automotive and hip-hop history comes with a price tag of $499,000.
