The wait is over for the powerful new-gen BMW 540d xDrive. Scheduled for a Q4 launch Down Under, this car boasts an impressive diesel engine with twin-turbocharging, a 3.0-liter inline-six configuration, and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system for an extra boost.

While the 540d xDrive doesn’t quite match the horsepower of the legendary E34 M5, it delivers nearly double the torque, resulting in a much quicker acceleration (5.2 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h).

Although the top speed remains undisclosed, it likely reaches the same 250 km/h limit as its predecessor.

BMW is offering a generous selection of metallic paint finishes at no additional cost, with even more stunning BMW Individual colors available as upgrades.

Stepping inside, the driver is met with heated sports seats, a panoramic glass roof, and a premium sound system.

Advanced safety features and driver assistance systems are also included. Optional packages add further amenities such as heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and M Performance upgrades.
