While some Australian-market cars mirror their American counterparts in price, that isn’t the case with the updated BMW 2 Series Coupe.
BMW recently revealed a wave of new and refreshed models, including the M5, 1 Series, M2, 2 Series, M3, 3 Series, M4, and 4 Series. The Australian arm of the brand has just announced pricing and details for the facelifted 2 Series Coupe, which starts at AUD 76,900 for the 230i Coupe.
This isn’t the only 2 Series news, though. BMW is also introducing the amped-up 2025 BMW M2 Coupe later in the year. The biggest highlight here is a 15 kW power bump, taking it from 338 kW to 353 kW (or 453 hp to 473 hp), matching the output of a standard BMW M3.
The rear-wheel-drive M2 Coupe boasts a straight-six M TwinPower Turbo engine, paired with a unique-in-segment manual transmission or an automatic gearbox.
The automatic option also benefits from a torque increase, going from 550 Nm to 600 Nm (406 lb-ft to 443 lb-ft).
Packing a more responsive punch, the 2024 BMW M2 Coupe enhances the driver’s connection to the road.
Through improvements in throttle mapping and response across all drive modes, engineers prioritized quicker acceleration on driver demand.
This translates to a 0.1-second reduction in the 0-100 kph (62 mph) sprint time for both the six-speed manual (4.2 seconds) and the eight-speed M Steptronic Sport transmission (4.0 seconds).
The true power surge becomes evident at higher speeds, with the M2 Coupe reaching 200 kph (124 mph) in 13.7 seconds (manual) or 12.9 seconds (automatic), a significant 0.6 seconds faster than before.
