Ushering in a new era while commemorating a rich legacy, MG presented the all-new HS SUV at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This exciting reveal perfectly complemented the centennial celebration, where legendary models like the MGB and the forward-thinking Cyberster took center stage.

The next-generation HS boasts a 1.5T petrol engine with a choice between a smooth-shifting 6-speed manual or a responsive 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. This potent engine cranks out 169 horsepower and 275 Nm of torque, translating to a spirited acceleration from 0-62 mph in just 9.4 seconds.

For those seeking an even more dynamic driving experience, the HS offers a compelling plug-in hybrid variant. This powertrain combines a 1.5T petrol engine with a powerful 154kW electric motor, delivering a potent combination and achieving a thrilling 0-62 mph in a mere 6.8 seconds.

Additionally, the 24.7 kWh battery and 67 kW generator enable an impressive electric-only range of up to 75 miles, perfect for tackling everyday commutes with minimal environmental impact.

Aesthetically, the HS seamlessly integrates into MG’s design language. The bold front grille evokes the MG3’s character, while the redesigned headlights adopt a slimmer profile, lending the HS a more streamlined and contemporary look.

The restyled taillights echo this design philosophy, connecting to form a distinctive light bar that adds visual width. Further enhancing the top-of-the-line model’s presence are eye-catching 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and integrated front fog lights.

These design elements combine to create a sophisticated and sporty SUV that embodies both MG’s heritage and its future-oriented vision. MG is giving the new HS a tech-heavy makeover inside, boasting dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and driver information. But the upgrades go beyond screens.

The automaker is touting an improved focus on quality with new materials throughout the cabin, a redesigned 3-spoke steering wheel with better controls, and a stylish new shuttle-style gear shifter. Opting for the Trophy trim adds even more convenience features like standard wireless phone charging and a helpful 360° surround-view camera system.

MG addressed passenger and cargo needs by stretching the HS’s wheelbase by 45mm, resulting in a more spacious cabin. The car itself is also larger than the previous generation, contributing to the increased roominess.

This translates to additional cargo space as well, with an impressive 44 liters added to the boot for a total capacity of 507 liters. MG is offering a variety of choices for those interested in the new HS.

The sporty crossover comes in five exterior colors at launch, including pearl white, pearl black, and three metallic options: silver, grey, and dynamic red. For those seeking a touch of luxury, the Trophy trim offers tan leather-style upholstery as an alternative to the standard black.

Order books are now open for the HS, with the SE model starting at £24,995 OTR and the Trophy model at £27,495 OTR.

Petrol versions are expected to arrive at dealerships by the end of July, while hybrid options will follow in September. This launch coincides with the revealing of the Cyber GTS concept, a stylish 2+2 coupe inspired by the Cyberster roadster.
