Audi has revealed fresh intel on the highly anticipated 2026 A7 luxury sedan. This next-generation model signifies a significant change for the brand, taking the reins from the A6 and adopting a more conventional four-door layout.

This transformation reflects Audi’s modernized naming strategy: odd numbers designate gasoline-powered cars, like the recently launched 2025 A5, while even numbers signify electric vehicles.

As a result, the forthcoming electric A6 will go head-to-head with contenders like the Mercedes EQE and BMW i5, while the A7 sets its sights on dethroning the likes of the E-Class and 5 Series. Earlier sightings hinted at the A7 retaining its Sportback design, but this iteration features a distinct trunk lid with a clear separation from the rear windshield, solidifying its classification as a sedan.

This shift eliminates Audi’s competitor in the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe segment, mirroring a trend initiated by Mercedes-Benz with the CLS and potentially followed by BMW with the 8er Gran Coupe. The wait for the official release continues, but these insights provide a tantalizing preview of what to expect from Audi’s upcoming luxury offering.

The signature singleframe grille takes a step back, both literally by sitting lower and figuratively with a reduced size. Likewise, the front fascia sheds its sharp angles in favor of a smoother, less pointed nose.

New LED technology flanks the car, with slimmer headlights sharpening the gaze and taillights hinting at a trendy full-width light bar across the rear. Material selections will likely reflect chosen trim levels.

Expect top-of-the-line models to boast a luxurious panoramic sunroof, supple leather upholstery throughout the cabin, and ventilated front seats for a touch of added comfort on hot days. Base trims, on the other hand, might utilize cloth seating surfaces and potentially offer a smaller infotainment screen.
