Revealing more design details under lighter camouflage, the next-generation Hyundai Palisade, codenamed LX3, has been spotted undergoing testing. As anticipated, the mid-size crossover adopts a boxier design language inspired by its sibling, the Santa Fe.
Scheduled for a 2026 model year release, the Palisade’s bolder look follows the 2025 model year’s update that focused on increased standard features and a trim level reshuffle. Borrowing design cues from the Santa Fe, whose boxy shape evokes comparisons to the premium Land Rover Defender, the Palisade could be mistaken for a more off-road capable vehicle.
However, despite the rugged appearance, the Palisade remains a front-wheel-drive crossover, and even its most adventurous trim, the XRT, lacks the necessary hardware for true off-road driving. The pictured Palisade XRT emphasizes its boxy design with a large grille, two-tone wheels wrapped in Pirelli road tires, and redesigned side windows that create a longer look and the illusion of a floating roof thanks to blacked-out pillars.

Hyundai seems to be stepping away from chrome accents in favor of a more premium feel, as evidenced by the stainless steel trim on the D-pillars, window surrounds, and roof rails. Moving inside the camouflaged cabin, excitement mounts for a substantially upgraded interior featuring a cutting-edge infotainment system.
The ever-functional Palisade is predicted to maintain its ability to seat up to eight passengers, with the continued option for premium second-row captain’s chairs that provide a more luxurious seven-seat layout. Furthermore, rumors suggest a possible platform change for the 2026 Palisade.
The extended nose section on this prototype compared to the current model hints at this possibility. Alternatively, Hyundai might retain the existing platform but modify it to push the front axle forward, creating a longer wheelbase for enhanced passenger comfort.
Engine options are also shrouded in speculation, with whispers of a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated I4 hybrid setup or a powerful 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. This could potentially lead to the retirement of the current 3.8-liter naturally aspirated V6, which is also found in the US-made Kia Telluride.
