Ford is poised to introduce a revamped Maverick pickup truck on August 1st, with order placement opening simultaneously. This aggressive timeline suggests Ford has its build-and-price configuration tool ready to go. Production is expected to kick off in November, with deliveries commencing around December to allow for comprehensive quality checks at the Hermosillo assembly plant.
Implementing a similar strategy used for the F-150, Ford will hold onto finished Mavericks, Explorers, and Bronco Sports for rigorous inspections to proactively address potential issues and reduce the likelihood of recalls.
The Maverick’s redesigned front end, featuring new headlights and a bolder grille, is likely to be divisive. However, the popular Black Appearance Package is expected to return, and Ford is rumored to add Eruption Green to the available exterior color options.
The Ford Maverick Tremor package will continue into the next model year, potentially with a shift from Falken to Goodyear tires. While the possibility of a hybrid all-wheel drive variant exists, the exclusive dual-clutch rear drive system from the EcoBoost Tremor won’t be making the transition.
A significant upgrade is in store for the Maverick’s interior, featuring a larger 13.2-inch touchscreen akin to the Escape and Mustang. This advanced display will incorporate Ford’s SYNC 4 operating system, promising enhanced customization, improved voice assistant capabilities, and wireless smartphone connectivity.
These improvements are likely to come at a premium, but Ford aims to maintain the Maverick’s status as the most affordable new truck on the market. The previously optional 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine now comes standard, paired with a traditional torque-converter automatic transmission.
All-wheel drive is available with this setup, while the hybrid model retains its front-wheel drive configuration with an Atkinson-cycle engine and eCVT. Despite increased competition, the Maverick has proven to be a sales success, even outperforming the larger F-150 PowerBoost in hybrid sales during the first half of 2024.
