Maserati bid farewell to the Levante after an eight-year run, leaving a void in the luxury SUV segment. However, the Italian automaker isn’t leaving the game for good. A next-generation Levante is on the horizon, and it’s taking a significant departure from its predecessor.
This new Levante will be entirely electric, placing it squarely in competition with established players like the BMW iX and Tesla Model X. Maserati is leveraging the vast resources of its parent company, Stellantis, to develop this new EV.
The platform will be a modified version of the Giorgio architecture used by Alfa Romeo, ensuring some shared components with the Maserati Grecale and GranTurismo, as well as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia.
The next Maserati Levante is shaping up to be a multifaceted luxury SUV. Rumor has it that the Italian automaker will offer a variety of powertrain options, including a range-topping, tri-motor electric variant potentially matching the GranTurismo Folgore’s impressive 751 horsepower.
While this electric flagship is undoubtedly exciting, traditional petrolheads need not despair. Given the declining popularity of pure electric models, it’s plausible that Maserati will also provide partially electrified or even purely internal combustion engine options.
As we eagerly await Levante’s anticipated debut next year, an early design look has already emerged. A digital rendering showcases a sleek, evolutionary take on the current model, preserving Maserati’s signature grille and aesthetic while introducing fresh styling elements.
