Audi’s electric lineup expansion continues, but the US market is once again receiving a limited selection. Unlike the global launch encompassing Sportback and Avant variants, the US will only offer the A6 and S6 e-tron Sportback. This mirrors the recent Audi A5 series introduction, which excluded the Avant model.
The A6 e-tron, marking Audi’s transition to even numbers for electric models, has been a long time coming; its concept debuted at the 2021 Auto Shanghai. Now, three years later, the production version arrives on the PPE platform, a platform also underpinning the e-tron GT but with a taller, bulkier stance and Audi’s divisive split-headlight design.
The US market will initially feature three trims: A6 e-tron Sportback RWD, Quattro, and S6 e-tron Sportback. Audi’s new A6 e-tron Sportback is a prime example of electric evolution. Building upon Audi’s traditional strengths in performance, range, efficiency, and charging, this model introduces a groundbreaking flat floor design.
Laden with innovative features like virtual exterior mirrors and customizable light signatures, the A6 e-tron offers a look into the future of luxury electric vehicles. While European pricing starts at €75,600 for the A6 Sportback e-tron performance and €99,500 for the S6 Sportback e-tron, US pricing remains undisclosed.
Unfortunately, due to current regulations, some advanced lighting features will be absent from the US market. However, the A6 e-tron still delivers impressive performance, with the S6 Sportback e-tron boasting a 0-60 mph time of just 3.7 seconds. A robust 100 kWh battery and 270 kW DC fast charging ensure ample range and rapid recharge times.
