BMW is poised to introduce a redesigned 2 Series Gran Coupe. Recently captured with minimal camouflage at the Nurburgring, the front-wheel-driven sedan bears a striking resemblance to its 1 Series hatchback sibling. The shared design elements, including the distinctive LED headlights, prominent kidney grille, and aggressive lower grille, create a familiar yet sportier aesthetic.
Further differentiating the Gran Coupe from its hatchback counterpart, the model boasts exclusive multi-spoke wheels and adopts the assertive mirror caps from the high-performance M135 xDrive.
These styling enhancements imbue the Gran Coupe with a more dynamic and upscale character, setting it apart as a sportier alternative within the BMW lineup. The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is poised for a significant departure from its predecessor.
Unlike the first generation, which offered diesel options, the upcoming model will exclusively feature gasoline engines for the North American and Canadian markets, catering to the region’s consumer preferences.
The lineup will consist of the front-wheel-drive 228i, the all-wheel-drive 228i xDrive, and the performance-oriented M235 xDrive. Production of the second-generation model internally codenamed F74, is scheduled to commence in November 2024, with a long-wheelbase variant tailored for the Chinese market following in January 2025.
This extended version will be available in 220L, 225L, and M235L xDrive trims. Inside, the 2 Series Gran Coupe will showcase BMW’s latest technology, including the intuitive Operating System 9 and iDrive interface, which minimizes physical buttons in favor of touchscreen controls.
Drivers can expect seamless software updates and a wide range of connected services through the BMW ConnectedDrive Store. Competing directly with the Audi A3 Sedan and Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupe, the 2 Series Gran Coupe will position itself in the premium compact sedan segment.
With starting prices of $35,800 and $44,400 respectively for the A3 and CLA, the BMW, priced at $38,400 for the 228i and $48,300 for the M235i xDrive, will aim to offer a compelling blend of luxury, performance, and technology.
