The Dodge Charger Daytona, a groundbreaking electric muscle car, presents an intriguing anomaly in its design: a missing frunk. While most electric vehicles (EVs) capitalize on the space freed up by the absence of a traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) to provide additional storage, often referred to as a frunk, the Charger Daytona initially offers an empty void at the front.

To transform this space into a functional frunk, buyers must invest in the Plus Group package, a costly add-on that bundles together a variety of features beyond mere storage. This decision by Dodge is unconventional, to say the least. The frunk, with its capacity of 1.5 cubic feet, could have been a practical solution for storing charging cables, small personal items, or other miscellaneous belongings.

However, by making it part of a premium package, Dodge has essentially placed a price tag on a feature that is standard in many other EVs. This strategic move raises questions about the automaker’s priorities and target market. Is it aiming to maximize profit margins by bundling essential features into expensive packages, or is there a deeper rationale behind this choice?

The 2024 Charger Daytona R/T and Scat Pack models offer a Plus Group package that significantly enhances both interior luxury and exterior appeal. For an additional $4,995, buyers can indulge in premium leather or leatherette ventilated seats, depending on the chosen trim.

The cabin is further refined with upscale materials adorning the instrument panel and door panels. Advanced driver-assistance features like a larger driver display, head-up display, and a comprehensive 360-degree camera system are included. The exterior benefits from the addition of sophisticated LED headlights, distinctive exterior mirrors featuring illuminated Dodge logos, and larger 20-inch aluminum wheels on the R/T model.

Practicality is enhanced with a power rear hatch, wireless charging convenience, and a front trunk. The package also introduces ambient lighting and an advanced security system. Notably, both the R/T and Scat Pack models equipped with the Plus Group qualify for a substantial tax credit when leased, making this option even more appealing for cost-conscious buyers.
