The DeLorean DMC, a cultural icon birthed from the silver screen, is undergoing a high-voltage revival. Lynx Motors has revealed the electrifying DMC-EV, a modern interpretation of the classic sports car.
However, this reinvention comes with a hefty price tag: a staggering $249,999. To put this figure into perspective, one could purchase four Ford F-150 Lightning electric trucks or three Tesla Model S sedans for the same amount.
This exorbitant cost marks a stark contrast to the original DMC-12’s troubled production history, plagued by financial woes and underwhelming performance. Despite its initial commercial failure, the DeLorean achieved legendary status thanks to its starring role in the “Back to the Future” trilogy.
The DMC-EV ushers in a new era for the iconic DeLorean. Its exterior has been radically transformed with a modern, aerodynamic design featuring an enclosed grille prominently displaying the “DMC-EV” logo and flanked by LED lights.
The rear boasts a sleek, flat profile topped by an air diffuser and accentuated by LED taillights. The car’s low stance, sharp lines, and elongated silhouette create a striking visual impact.
Inside, the DMC-EV boasts a futuristic cabin centered around a vast display that encompasses the instrument cluster and touchscreen controls. The minimalist interior is further defined by a leather and carbon fiber steering wheel, two steering wheel-mounted buttons, a rotary center console switch, and supportive leather sports seats.
Powering this electric marvel are four in-wheel motors delivering all-wheel drive and propelling the DMC-EV from zero to 60 mph in under four seconds. A 70-kWh CATL battery pack provides an estimated range of 250 miles.
