Sharing a sporty spirit and Ford’s signature blue ovals, the Maverick, Bronco Sport, and Mustang Mach-E have another, less desirable, connection.
All three vehicles rolled off assembly lines in Mexico, specifically the Hermosillo and Cuautitlan plants.
Unfortunately, a potential safety issue has emerged with these models. The culprit? Faulty windshield wiper motors manufactured in Toluca, Mexico.
The problem lies in a missing sealant between the motor’s gear housing and cover, allowing water to seep in and cause failure.
This could leave drivers with inoperable wipers in the face of rain or snow, significantly impacting visibility and safety.
Ford is taking steps to address an issue with its Maverick Hybrid by initiating a recall. Owners will be notified starting August 26th about the free installation of corrected motors. They can verify if their vehicle is affected using Ford’s or the NHTSA’s recall portal.
Meanwhile, the Maverick Hybrid continues its sales dominance, outpacing the F-150 PowerBoost and Toyota Tundra Hybrid.
Ford is also gearing up to reveal the refreshed Maverick with all-wheel drive and the Bronco Sport with a potential Sasquatch package on August 26th. Lastly, the Mustang Mach-E has set a new world record for the longest EV range, surpassing the Zeekr 009.
