One of the factors contributing to the Cyclone GT’s desirability is its original factory configuration. The specific example in question was equipped with a powerful 351ci four-barrel engine paired with an automatic transmission, a combination that was only found in 3,470 units.
This rarity is further enhanced by the car’s unique exterior color, Competition Orange, which was used on only 448 Cyclone GTs. Inside, the car features Black Houndstooth Cloth bucket seats, a feature that was even more limited, with just 37 examples produced.
To make this Cyclone GT even more exceptional, it is one of only two equipped with heavy-duty batteries and the sole survivor with styled steel wheels. These distinctive details combine to create a truly one-of-a-kind vehicle that is highly coveted by collectors.
This Cyclone GT, parked in a remote location, is in clear need of rehabilitation. The exterior, especially the floors and trunk, shows significant wear and tear. While the frame appears to be in decent condition, the engine, a 351ci unit, is no longer operational and requires inspection.
Despite its rough exterior, the car’s structure is surprisingly intact. However, a thorough in-person or third-party inspection is recommended, as well as a trailer for transportation. The auction starts at a minimal $1, but the owner has set a reserve, described as “reasonable,” the exact amount of which is unknown.
