The Honda CB750, a motorcycle that revolutionized the industry in the 1970s, has left an indelible mark on motorcycling culture. Its reliability, versatility, and widespread availability have made it a popular choice for customization.
While well preserved original CB750s have become increasingly valuable, there are still stunning custom examples being built. One such bike is a bobber created by Sabotage Motorcycles in Sydney, Australia, in 2021. This particular CB750 started life as a 1977 model with a unique history. It spent its early years in the UK, where it was transformed into a chopper in the late 1990s.
The motorcycle’s inline four engine was paired with a raked out Santee plunger frame, and it featured a variety of custom components typical of a classic chopper. Eventually, the motorcycle was imported to Australia by its current owner, who envisioned turning it into a classy bobber.
To achieve this, the frame was sent to a metalworking expert to correct the excessive rake angle. However, the project faced delays as the owner struggled to find the right workshop to bring his vision to life. The Sabotage Motorcycles team breathed new life into an old Honda CB750, transforming it into a stunning bobber. Starting with a heavily modified frame, they tackled the project head on, swapping the front rim for a larger 21 inch wheel and adding a custom-made seat base.
The bike’s cockpit received a minimalist overhaul, featuring a flat handlebar, digital speedometer, and vintage-style headlight. Under the hood, the engine underwent a complete rebuild, including a custom oil tank and exhaust system. The final touch was a striking color scheme that perfectly complemented the bobber’s retro aesthetic. The result is a one of a kind custom motorcycle that captures the essence of the 1960s.
Each element of the custom build contributes to the aesthetic and performance of the bobber. The larger front wheel not only improves handling but also adds a classic chopper-style look. The custom seat base, with its comfortable black leather upholstery and exposed springs, further enhances the retro appeal.
The minimalist cockpit, with its clean lines and limited instrumentation, provides a focused riding experience. The rebuilt engine, with its upgraded components and custom oil tank, delivers reliable power and performance.
The handmade exhaust system not only enhances the engine’s sound but also adds a unique visual element. Finally, the color scheme, with its combination of black, chrome, and polished metal, perfectly complements the bobber’s classic design.
The Sabotage Motorcycles team has successfully transformed an old Honda CB750 into a stunning custom bobber. The attention to detail and craftsmanship evident in every aspect of the build make this motorcycle a true work of art. The bobber’s retro aesthetic, combined with its modern performance upgrades, offers a unique and enjoyable riding experience.
