Toyota’s recent breakthrough in resolving the side curtain airbag issue is a significant step forward for the company. The faulty airbags, which led to a production and sales halt for the Grand Highlander and Lexus TX SUVs, have been a major concern for both Toyota and its customers.

However, the successful implementation of a remedy ensures that these popular models will once again be available to the public. The automaker’s commitment to safety and quality is evident in their diligent efforts to address this critical issue, and the resolution is a testament to their engineering expertise and dedication to customer satisfaction.

Toyota has been forced to halt production of its Grand Highlander and Lexus TX models due to a significant airbag recall. The issue has led to a major setback for the automaker, which had been enjoying strong sales momentum for both vehicles.

Despite customer enthusiasm and impressive performance, production has been temporarily suspended to address the safety defect. The recall affects approximately 154,000 Grand Highlander and TX examples manufactured at the Princeton manufacturing plant, as well as 4,000 vehicles already on dealer lots. Toyota has also had to buy back 11 vehicles due to the faulty airbags.

The recall has had a significant impact on Toyota’s sales figures. Before the production halt, the automaker was selling an average of 9,200 Grand Highlanders per month in the United States alone, while Lexus was delivering 3,500 TXs per month. Sales figures dropped significantly in August following the recall announcement.

Toyota and Lexus are expected to resume production before the end of next month. Once the redesigned components become available, they will start notifying owners and scheduling appointments for repairs on their SUVs starting in October.

The recall is a major blow to Toyota, which had been positioning the Grand Highlander and Lexus TX as important additions to its lineup. However, the automaker is committed to addressing the issue and ensuring the safety of its customers.
