The House of the Trident has issued a recall for the 2024 GranTurismo and GranCabrio models due to a software error in their body control modules. This error can cause the fuel gauge to display an inaccurate fuel level, potentially leading to stalling at high speeds and increasing the risk of accidents.

The affected vehicles, produced between November 2022 and July 2024, include both coupes and convertibles. The recall affects a total of 524 vehicles, including 70 GranCabrio and 454 GranTurismo models.

All affected vehicles are equipped with Maserati’s 3.0-liter Nettuno twin-turbo V6 engine, a ZF torque-converter automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, and either a mechanical or electronically controlled rear limited-slip differential.

Maserati first became aware of the issue in July 2023 when a customer reported that their fuel gauge showed a quarter of a tank despite the fuel tank being empty. An investigation revealed that the software error in the body control module was causing the inaccurate readings. The recall is being conducted to address the safety risk posed by the faulty fuel gauge.

Maserati will update the body control module software in all affected vehicles to correct the error. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail and can schedule a service appointment with their local Maserati dealer to have the recall work performed free of charge.

Maserati has issued a recall for certain GranTurismo and GranCabrio models due to a software issue that can cause inaccurate fuel level readings on the digital instrument cluster. This issue can lead to unexpected running out of fuel, potentially compromising driver safety. Dealers will be instructed to update the body control module software to address this problem and ensure accurate fuel level readings.

Owners can determine if their vehicle is affected by entering the 17-character VIN on the NHTSA website. The recall is expected to begin on or around October 28, 2024. Maserati recommends that owners of affected vehicles schedule an appointment with their authorized dealer as soon as possible to have the software update performed.
