Hyundai Motor America has issued a recall for a small number of its recently refreshed Tucson SUVs due to a technical oversight. The affected vehicles were manufactured between June 7 and July 30, 2024, and were shipped without the necessary glovebox airbag warning label, which is a violation of federal safety regulations.
The South Korean automaker discovered the issue in August and promptly launched an investigation. It was determined that a limited number of 2025 Tucson models were built without the required label. Hyundai has notified owners of the recall and will be providing replacement labels. Dealers will also be available to install the labels for owners who prefer not to do it themselves.
The recall campaign, designated 24V-691, marks the first recall for the revised Tucson, a compact utility vehicle that has consistently been a top-selling model for Hyundai in the United States. The affected vehicles were produced during a specific manufacturing period and were inadvertently shipped without the essential warning label.
Hyundai has taken steps to rectify the issue by providing replacement labels to affected owners and offering installation services at authorized dealerships. The automaker has also implemented new quality control measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
