The 1969 Plymouth Road Runner, a muscle car icon, is renowned for its performance and affordability. While the base 383 cubic inch V8 was the most popular engine choice, the more powerful 440 cubic inch Six Barrel and 426 cubic inch HEMI engines were highly sought after. Of the 81,105 Road Runners produced in 1969, only 2,199 were equipped with these high-performance engines.

This particular HEMI Road Runner is even rarer, with only four examples painted in the exclusive Jamaica Blue color. Combined with the desirable four-speed manual transmission, this car is a true collector’s item. Its combination of power, style, and rarity makes it a highly sought after classic.

This stunning Jamaica Blue 1969 Plymouth Road Runner is a true time capsule. Having undergone a complete body off restoration in 2011, the car still looks as good as new. Its exterior paint, ceramic coated in 2020, shines like glass while the body panels remain perfectly aligned.

Inside, the all black interior with a standard front bench seat offers a sleek and understated look that belies the car’s powerful nature. Under the hood, a period correct 426 cubic inch HEMI engine delivers impressive performance.

The car also features the factory Track Pak package, power brakes with front discs, and the original spare tire and jack. While the engine is not numbers matching, it’s a minor detail that doesn’t detract from the car’s value or desirability. The status of the four-speed manual transmission is uncertain.

Despite these minor imperfections, this Road Runner is a museum-quality example that will undoubtedly turn heads at any car show. Given its pristine condition, exceptional features, and desirable Jamaica Blue paint, the recent auction price of $93,500 seems like a great deal, especially considering the market average of $126,000.
