The first half of the year has seen Ford Motor Company solidify its position as a leading force in the American automotive market. The company’s dominance is particularly evident in three key segments: large pickups, sports cars, and small pickups.

The Ford F Series, consisting of the F-150 and Super Duty, has maintained its status as the nation’s most popular large truck, outselling its closest competitors, the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, when considered individually.

In the sports car world, Ford’s S650 seventh generation Mustang has captured the hearts of enthusiasts with its sleek design and powerful performance. Meanwhile, the Ford Maverick has continued to defy expectations in the small pickup truck category, outselling mid size rivals like the Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Colorado, and Ford Ranger by a significant margin.

Even Hyundai’s recently refreshed Santa Cruz, a direct competitor to the Maverick, has struggled to match the Maverick’s sales figures. Ford’s success in these segments is a testament to its ability to anticipate consumer needs and deliver products that exceed expectations.

With the introduction of the 2025MY Maverick, which features enhanced styling, advanced technology, and expanded capabilities, Ford has further strengthened its position in the small pickup market. The Maverick’s success has also raised questions about the viability of other automakers entering this segment, given the significant investments required to develop and manufacture competitive products.

While the 2025 Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz offer spacious Crew Cab configurations, a potential Honda T360 revival might adopt a more compact Super Cab or Access Cab design.

This could position it as a lifestyle oriented pickup truck, similar to the Santa Cruz, rather than a workhorse like the Maverick. By offering a smaller footprint, Honda could potentially undercut the prices of its competitors, making it a more affordable option for those seeking a versatile vehicle.

However, it’s important to note that this is purely speculative, and there’s no official confirmation from Honda regarding such a project. Given their conservative approach to new models, the chances of a T360 revival are relatively low. While the idea of a modern-day T360 is intriguing, it remains to be seen if Honda will take the leap and bring this classic model back to life.
