Alpine, the renowned French sports car manufacturer owned by Renault, is preparing to enter the U.S. market in 2027 with a lineup of electric vehicles, led by the newly presented A390_β concept. This strategic initiative marks a significant step for the brand as it aims to establish a presence in the increasingly competitive electric vehicle sector. Production of the A390 is expected to commence in a few years, at which point it will drop the Greek letter beta from its name, signaling its official launch.

The design of the A390 features a blend of SUV and sedan characteristics, showcasing a low-slung stance combined with a sloping roofline. It is equipped with striking 22-inch front wheels and 23-inch rear wheels, with its aesthetic drawing inspiration from natural elements, particularly snowflakes and a blue gemstone at its center. This design philosophy highlights Alpine’s commitment to creating visually impressive vehicles that capture attention and differentiate themselves in the automotive market.

In terms of lighting design, the A390 takes a bold departure from the circular headlights seen on the A110 sports car. Instead, it features a sleek LED bar and a series of illuminated triangular shapes that Alpine refers to as “Cosmic Dust.” This distinctive lighting signature extends to the taillights and the perforations in the lower front bumper, enhancing the modern and innovative appearance of the vehicle, which aligns with Alpine’s forward-thinking design ethos.

While specific details regarding the A390’s powertrain remain undisclosed, Alpine has emphasized several aerodynamic features designed to enhance performance. The vehicle is engineered to optimize airflow, with channels running through the hood, similar to technologies employed by other upcoming electric models.

A prominent shark fin on the roof pays homage to Alpine’s racing heritage while contributing to the vehicle’s overall aerodynamic efficiency. Additionally, the rear light bar can extend to improve drag coefficients and enhance electric range, demonstrating Alpine’s focus on performance and efficiency.

Inside the A390, the cabin blends high-performance racing elements with cutting-edge technology. The sculptural racing bucket seats, inspired by Alpine’s Formula 1 vehicle, will be replaced with more conventional seating in the production model. A yoke-style steering wheel adds to the sporty experience, and an “F1 mode” allows drivers to adjust the seat and pedals to emulate the driving position of F1 racers.

The dashboard features holographically projected gauges on glass surfaces, showcasing the vehicle’s advanced technology. The A390 is expected to share its platform with the Nissan Ariya and may include a powerful tri-motor setup. Alongside the A390, Alpine plans to introduce several other models, including the A310, a larger A490 crossover, and an all-electric successor to the A110 coupe, marking a comprehensive expansion of its electric vehicle offerings.
