Mercedes-Benz recently showcased a look at its upcoming next generation CLA at a fashion and photography festival in France. The new model will maintain its traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) configuration, but an electric battery variant is also slated to join the lineup.

Visually, the 2026 Mercedes CLA closely resembles its two predecessors, retaining the signature sleek profile with a sloping roofline and a larger grille reminiscent of the CLA Concept revealed in 2023.

The headlights, however, lack the star pattern design found in the concept, which is somewhat unexpected. The full width light strip seen in the concept appears to have been omitted from the production version.

The rear of the new CLA features broader shoulders, reminiscent of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, and circular LED signatures are integrated into the headlights. A light strip connecting the headlights is possible, but not entirely clear from the images. The trunk lid incorporates a ducktail spoiler, and the iconic three-pointed star logo adorns the center. The lower bumper houses the license plate, flanked by a pair of reflectors.

Beneath the fresh exterior lies the company’s versatile MMA architecture, which supports both ICE and electric models. The 2026 Mercedes CLA will offer a range of four cylinder ICE engines, possibly with electric assistance. The electric variant is expected to feature 800V technology, enabling charging speeds of up to 250 kW, significantly reducing charging times at fast charging stations.

Rumors are swirling about a high performance electric version of the upcoming Mercedes AMG CLA. Speculations suggest it could deliver more than 500 horsepower, significantly outpacing the current Mercedes AMG CLA 45 S.

If true, this electric model would offer a thrilling driving experience with its powerful acceleration and impressive top speed.

Mercedes-Benz is expected to reveal more details about the all new CLA in the coming months, with a potential launch in 2025. Meanwhile, artists have begun creating digital renderings of the car, providing a look into its potential design.
