Audi, historically known for its conservative approach, is undergoing a radical transformation. The brand is jettisoning its controversial fake exhaust tips and enigmatic engine designations, opting for a simplified model nomenclature.

Internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid models will now be identified by odd numbers, while all electric variants will carry even numbers and the e-tron suffix. This shift is evident in the recent rebranding of the A4 as the A5 and the A6 as an all electric e-tron model.

While the new A5 and S5 models boast sharper styling, refined interiors, and advanced technology, concerns have emerged regarding their driving dynamics. Some reports suggest that the new S5, in particular, has lost some of its exhilarating character.

As Audi prepares to introduce the next-generation mid-size A7, the brand is abandoning the sleek Sportback body style in favor of a traditional sedan and wagon configuration. Recent spy photos reveal an evolutionary design for the new A7 sedan, suggesting that it will retain a strong family resemblance to its predecessor.

However, the lack of a Sportback variant is a significant departure from the A7, which has long been celebrated for its distinctive and aerodynamic silhouette. The digital car design is abuzz with the latest creation by Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist known as kelsonik.

He has turned his attention to the upcoming 2025 or 2026 Audi A7 sedan, crafting a series of renderings that offer a look into its potential design. Drawing inspiration from recent spy photos, Chuicko’s vision blends speculation with reality, inviting us to ponder the future of this elegant four door.

As rumors swirl, the next A7 is expected to share its Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture with the all-new A5 and other upcoming models. Powertrain options are likely to include a mix of gasoline and diesel engines, along with mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.

The performance oriented RS 7, in both sedan and Avant forms, is also on the horizon, ready to take on the likes of the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Meanwhile, the all-electric A6 and S6 e-tron will compete with Tesla’s Model 3, BMW i5, and Mercedes EQE Sedan.
