Mercedes-Benz USA has issued a recall for specific 2025 GLB 250 and GLB 35 models due to a potential tire defect. Vehicles produced between June 17 and July 19, 2024, may have sustained damage to the passenger-side front and rear tires during the manufacturing process.
This damage, resulting from a conveyor system malfunction, could lead to sidewall deterioration and subsequent air pressure loss. While the exact tire supplier remains undisclosed, it’s confirmed that 2025 US models are equipped with Continental tires.
Mercedes-Benz identified the issue in early August 2024 and promptly addressed the conveyor system problem on August 8, 2024. The automaker has directed dealers to thoroughly inspect all tires manufactured during the suspected timeframe. Customers with damaged tires will receive replacements at no cost.
Notification letters are scheduled to be mailed by December 20th, 2024. In the United States, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLB has a starting price of $45,800, excluding destination fees and optional extras. The GLB 250 SUV comes standard with front wheel drive, while all-wheel drive (4MATIC) is available for an additional $2,000.
Interestingly, both the front wheel drive and 4MATIC 250 models are rated for a 0-60 mph time of 6.9 seconds. Powering both variants is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine with mild-hybrid technology.
The M260 engine delivers a healthy 221 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, with peak torque available between 1,800 and 4,000 rpm. Upgrading to the AMG-badged GLB 35 SUV adds $60,100 to the starting price and brings a more potent M260 engine producing 302 hybrid horsepower.
While the AMG GLB 35 doesn’t feature a hand-assembled engine, it still offers respectable performance with 295 pound-feet of torque between 3,000 and 4,000 rpm and a 0-60 mph time of 5.4 seconds. However, it falls short of the GLC 43’s impressive 416 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque from its dedicated AMG inline four turbo engine.
