In 2010, Ian Callum designed the Jaguar C-X75, a revolutionary hybrid supercar concept powered by four electric motors and diesel-fed turbines to recharge the battery. While the C-X75 was originally meant for production, it was never commercially released. Instead, it made a cameo in the James Bond film *Spectre*, where a villain drove it through the streets of Rome in a thrilling car chase scene. The stunt cars from the film were later acquired by private collectors, and now Callum’s design firm has taken one of these rare vehicles and converted it into a fully road-legal supercar.
This isn’t Callum’s first time reworking a C-X75 stunt car; he had previously modified one for British road legality. However, this latest version is a more extensive transformation. It features a redesigned drivetrain, active aerodynamics, and a bespoke interior, making it a unique iteration of the original concept. The car’s exterior has been refined with new elements like improved panel alignment, a fresh Willow Green paint job, brushed aluminum window trim, and carbon fiber accents around the intakes near the side windows.
The powertrain remains the same supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine, borrowed from the Jaguar F-Type, but it’s now paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission for better handling in everyday driving. The car includes a “sport” mode for sharper performance, which enhances the throttle response, gears, and exhaust sound. This new setup is a significant upgrade from the sequential racing gearbox originally fitted in the stunt car, offering a smoother and more versatile driving experience.
In terms of performance, the Callum C-X75 includes active aerodynamics that kick in above 37 mph, incorporating an “air brake” that assists with deceleration during heavy braking. It also features a hydraulic front-lift system to clear obstacles like speed bumps. The car rides on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires fitted to the 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels, providing a balance between street and track handling capabilities.
Inside, the once minimalist cabin now exudes luxury with a combination of dark green and cream leather. Callum has also integrated advanced features, including a wireless charging pad, Apple CarPlay, and a digital instrument cluster beneath an acrylic cowl. The steering wheel is crafted from a solid billet, adding a touch of craftsmanship to the redesigned cabin. Although it’s unclear how many V-8-powered C-X75 stunt cars exist, this revamped version is likely the most impressive, showcasing what the original C-X75 could have achieved as a roadgoing masterpiece.
