The first nine months of 2023 saw Ford Motor Company make modest gains in the US automotive market, with deliveries increasing by 2.7% to over 1.548 million vehicles. While this places Ford behind Toyota Motor North America and General Motors in terms of total deliveries, the company’s iconic F-Series pickup truck continued to dominate, selling over 550,000 units during this period.
Additionally, the seventh generation Ford Mustang, the brand’s sole passenger car, maintained its position as America’s favorite sports car, with deliveries rising 3.3% to 36,000 units. This uptick in Mustang sales offers a glimmer of hope for the passenger car segment, which has been overshadowed by the increasing popularity of SUVs and trucks.
The insatiable appetite for car speculation extends beyond the real world. Dimas Ramadhan, the creative mind behind the Digimods DESIGN YouTube channel, has cooked up a unique concept: a Ford Fusion reborn with a heavy dose of F-Series inspiration.
This CGI concept reimagines the mid-size Fusion, which had a 15 year run from 2005 to 2020, as a stylish sedan with a fastback silhouette. The design borrows heavily from the rugged F-150 Tremor, particularly the front fascia with its signature LED headlights.
Even the grille gets a splash of orange, mirroring the Tremor’s accents. While this concept injects some excitement, it’s likely wishful thinking. The recent demise of the Chevrolet Malibu, despite decent sales figures, suggests the market for traditional sedans might be shrinking.
