Rivian has revealed plans for a North American tour showcasing its upcoming electric vehicles (EVs), following the earlier reveal of the R2 and R3 models this year.
In a recent announcement on its website, Rivian stated that the R2 and R3X would be featured at various locations across the U.S. and Canada.
Initially displayed at select stores, these models will now be part of a larger event series. The tour is primarily tied to automotive shows, with the exception of the LA Auto Show, which will not feature the R3X.
“Get ready—our R2 Road Tour is coming to a town near you,” Rivian writes. “We’re cruising through cities across the country, bringing you an up close and personal look at the all-new R2.
You can also meet the new Gen 2 R1S & R1T and take a demo drive. Keep an eye out for R3X making guest appearances along the way.”
The announcement coincides with Rivian’s expansion of its Normal, Illinois factory, which began last week.
This facility upgrade aims to prepare for the production of the R2 pickup and SUV. The expansion was officially approved in August following unanimous support from the Normal Town Council.
In a July statement, Rivian’s VP of Manufacturing, Tim Fallon, disclosed that the R2 had already amassed over 100,000 pre-orders since its reveal in March.
Following the R2’s introduction, Rivian surprised fans by revealing the R3X, another EV set to enter production after the R2.
In addition to the planned tour stops, the R2 has already been showcased in various locations, including several California cities, Vancouver, B.C., Portland, New York City, Nashville, Austin, and Boston.
A detailed schedule of upcoming appearances for the R2 and R3X is available below, including an ongoing exhibit at Rivian’s Laguna Beach space, which concludes this Sunday.
