Jeep’s new electric SUV, inspired by the Wrangler, is nearly ready for its debut. The Jeep Recon EV has been spotted with very little camouflage, revealing a design reminiscent of the Ford Bronco.

The Recon was first introduced in September 2022 as part of Jeep’s strategy to unveil four new EVs globally.

With the luxury 2025 Wagoneer S set to arrive in dealerships across the US in the coming weeks, offering Jeep’s first global electric SUV, we are getting a closer look at the next EV from the brand.

Jeep describes the Recon as being “inspired by the legendary Wrangler,” and it will feature options such as removable doors and windows, paying homage to the iconic off-road SUV.

This electric SUV is set to play a crucial role in Jeep’s efforts to rejuvenate its sales in the US.

In fact, given the brand’s loyal customer base, it may even become more popular than the Wagoneer S. We got a preview of the Recon Moab 4xe when images leaked from a dealer event in March.

Now, we are getting a more detailed view of the production model after the electric SUV was spotted with minimal camouflage.

Jeep Recon EV resembles a Ford Bronco

At first glance, the Jeep Recon EV could easily be mistaken for a Ford Bronco. In new images from KindelAuto (courtesy of Reddit user Mr-Ekles), the Recon shows a more “sculpted” design than the rugged Wrangler.

While it retains much of the concept design, the Recon is increasingly taking on a look similar to the Bronco as it nears production.

Jeep’s CEO, Antonio Filosa, stated that the Recon EV, following the debut of the Wagoneer S, is expected to launch by the end of 2024.

Last month, Recon models were spotted in transit for the first time near Laredo, Texas. According to TFLCar, the SUVs were reportedly being shipped from the Stellantis Toluca plant in Mexico.

Filosa also confirmed that the Recon EV will be built on the STLA Large platform, the same one used for the Wagoneer S and the electric Dodge Charger Daytona.

The 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S starts at $71,995 and offers over 300 miles of driving range. It also boasts 600 horsepower and 617 lb-ft of torque.

The Jeep Recon is expected to start at a slightly lower price, around $60,000, though higher trims like the Rubicon or Sahara could exceed $80,000.

Earlier this month, Jeep teased the upcoming Compass EV in a design sketch, giving us our first look at the model. Stay tuned for more updates as Jeep prepares to launch the Recon EV later this year.
