The 2025 Kia Sorento marks a significant update for the fourth generation of the popular mid-size SUV, which is still relatively new. This refresh brings several design and technological improvements, though Kia confirmed that the 2024 Sorento would remain largely unchanged, with the major update slated for the 2025 model year. The refreshed Sorento is expected to arrive in the U.S. soon, following its likely initial release in Korea.
In terms of exterior styling, the 2025 Sorento features a completely redesigned front grille and new headlights, with LED accent strips that echo the lighting design found on the new Kia EV9. The rear end also sees some changes, including slightly revised taillights, now connected by a new design element linking the light bars on either side. New wheel designs and a potential new beige color (at least in the Korean-market model) round out the exterior updates.
Inside, the biggest upgrades are focused on the vehicle’s screens and digital displays. The Sorento will feature a new digital gauge cluster and an updated central infotainment system, which now runs Kia’s newer infotainment software. The gauge cluster is expected to be larger, particularly on higher trim levels. A new touchbar, similar to those in the Kia Sportage and EV6, will also be added, allowing users to toggle between controls for the HVAC and navigation systems.
As for performance, there are no major changes to the Sorento’s powertrains. It will continue to offer a choice of a 2.5-liter gasoline engine in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms, alongside a 227-hp hybrid version and a 261-hp plug-in hybrid with an EPA-estimated 32 miles of electric range. The model lineup, which includes the LX, EX, SX, and X-Line trims, is expected to remain the same.
While the exact timing of the 2025 Sorento’s release is unclear, it is anticipated that the vehicle will first hit showrooms in Korea before making its way to the U.S. Kia has yet to release details on the 2024 model-year Sorento, meaning the 2024 version may only be available for a short period before the updated 2025 model arrives.
