A key metric for fast charging is the 10-80% peak charging speed, which represents the optimal range for maintaining battery health and efficiency. Thanks to advancements in battery technology and high-performance chargers, some EVs can now complete this charge in just over 10 minutes.
While real-world conditions may slightly extend that time, the improvements are substantial. The list of the fastest-charging EVs of 2025 highlights just how quickly drivers can get back on the road with minimal wait times.
1. Tesla Model 3 & Model Y
The Tesla Model 3 and Model Y are the only Tesla models to make the list of fastest-charging EVs, with a charging time of 27 minutes from 10-80%. Despite Tesla’s long-standing leadership in EV innovation, these models are starting to show their age.
While the Model 3 received a refresh last year and the Model Y’s update was just announced, they are still built on older architecture, limiting how much they can be improved.
That said, both vehicles continue to perform well, offering competitive range, solid charging capabilities, and improved interiors and technology in their latest versions.
Though range and charging speed have only seen minor upgrades, Tesla is counting on the strong loyalty of its fan base and the overall quality of these models to maintain interest, especially as the company faces declining sales in an increasingly competitive EV market.
2. Rimac Nevera
The Rimac Nevera is one of the fastest-charging EVs, capable of reaching 0-80% in just 25 minutes. This hypercar is a true performance marvel, boasting four electric motors that generate a staggering 1,877 horsepower and 1,740 lb-ft of torque, propelling it to a top speed of 258 mph.
Its closest competitor, the Pininfarina Battista, shares much of its technology, as Pininfarina borrowed heavily from Rimac’s expertise in high-performance EV engineering.
