The coupe’s proportions never seemed quite right, which is true for most SUV coupes on the market.
While I’ve never fully warmed to the idea of a high-performance SUV designed primarily for road use, the GLC 63 S E Performance stands out as one of the more visually appealing examples. Its smoothly rounded contours contrast nicely with the sheer performance potential that lies beneath.
The 21-inch wheels and ultra-low-profile Michelin Pilot Sport tires hint at its capabilities, but most casual observers would likely overlook these subtle indicators. To the untrained eye, this Mercedes might seem like just another luxury SUV, until it surges ahead with ferocious power.
Those familiar with AMG’s design cues, however, will immediately recognize the distinctive vertical-bar grille, AMG-specific lower fascia, extended side sills, and rear diffuser housing four exhaust outlets.
These elements clearly signal the SUV’s performance pedigree. A word of advice to muscle car drivers: if you find yourself next to one of these at a red light, it’s best to admire it rather than challenge it, because once the light turns green, you’ll be staring at its taillights disappearing into the distance.

Mercedes-AMG claims, and my experience supports, that the GLC 63 S E Performance rockets from 0 to 60 mph in just over three seconds. It can reach 100 mph in under seven seconds, complete the quarter mile in just over 11 seconds, and has a top speed of 171 mph.
Handling can rival some of the best sports sedans on the market, while maintaining exceptional ride comfort even on rough surfaces. Rear-wheel steering enhances agility, helping to tighten cornering lines and improve maneuverability.
In essence, the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S E Performance is a remarkable fusion of luxury, power, and advanced engineering, a true 21st-century performance SUV that challenges long-held assumptions and redefines what a compact luxury vehicle can be.
