Each car was equipped with the Performance package. The EcoBoost sprinted to 60 mph in a lively 5.6 seconds, the manual GT reached the mark in 4.8 seconds, and the automatic GT was even quicker, hitting 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds

. Quarter-mile speeds followed a similar pattern: the EcoBoost topped out at 94.2 mph, the manual GT reached 111.6 mph, and the automatic GT peaked at 113.1 mph. While a handful of other sports cars might be marginally faster, the Mustang makes high speeds feel effortless.

Braking performance was equally commendable, with each Mustang coming to a stop from 60 mph in around 100 feet. Beyond the short distances, pedal feel was precise, and stability remained excellent throughout.

Handling is another area where the Mustang shines; all three cars relied on Pirelli P Zero tires to post 0.97 g or 0.98 g on our skidpad. That’s an impressive level of grip for a relatively affordable sport coupe. Our test drivers also noted that the Mustang’s chassis is intuitive, with accurate steering and solid body control making it straightforward to extract maximum performance.

2025 has made performance more attainable than ever. With cars capable of sub-4-second 0–60 mph times now available under $50,000, enthusiasts have more options than ever to enjoy speed, handling, and modern features.

The dual-motor EX30 we tested rockets from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.5 seconds. That’s significantly faster than most other electric SUVs in its class, including the Audi Q4 E-tron and the Tesla Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive. Whether darting through city streets or overtaking slower vehicles on the highway, the EX30 delivers effortless, confidence-inspiring acceleration.

Despite that strong thrust, the EX30 never feels twitchy or unsettled. Like many modern EVs, it comes with one-pedal driving, allowing you to lift off the accelerator to decelerate and often come to a complete stop without touching the brakes.

The regenerative braking isn’t as aggressive as some competitors, but it’s well-matched to the EX30’s driving character. Ride quality is smooth for a vehicle of this size, not luxurious, but comfortable and compliant over most road surfaces.

Visibility is another strong point, aided by the EX30’s compact dimensions and optional surround-view camera system. Volvo equips the EX30 with a suite of driver-assistance features, though it does not offer a hands-free driving mode. In general, these systems perform well, although some alerts tend to sound a little too frequently.

Pricing is another advantage for the EX30, as it’s relatively accessible compared with other luxury SUVs. The tradeoff, however, is fewer features than what you’ll find in rivals from BMW or Mercedes, and while the interior quality is solid, it isn’t quite up to the premium standard of those competitors, though it still surpasses the average electric SUV.

Range-wise, the Volvo EX30 carries an EPA-estimated figure between 250 and 261 miles depending on trim. Our dual-motor test model slightly exceeded its 253-mile estimate, traveling 256 miles on a single charge.

That’s respectable but well below some competitors, such as the dual-motor Tesla Model Y, which achieved 327 miles under the same test conditions. Efficiency is strong, too, the EX30 consumed 29 kWh per 100 miles in our testing, modestly outperforming the EPA’s estimate of 31 kWh per 100 miles.

Whether you prefer gas or electric, hatchback or coupe, the cars on this list prove that thrilling performance doesn’t have to come with a supercar price tag.
