Ram also reports reductions in noise, vibration, and harshness, addressing prior concerns about diesel engine sound levels.

Infotainment technology receives meaningful revisions. The previously optional 12-inch touchscreen now runs Ram’s latest interface, while a new 14.5-inch display becomes the largest available screen. Additional upgrades include an available fully digital instrument cluster and a passenger-side display.

Dual wireless charging pads and a 2.4-kW onboard inverter are added to the feature list. Towing-focused enhancements include a trailer reverse steering control system, along with expanded safety technology offerings. Exterior styling updates are evident in reshaped grilles and revised split-headlight designs.

The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD do not surpass the 1,000 lb-ft torque threshold, but their diesel V-8 engines produce higher horsepower figures than the Cummins inline-six. GM’s gasoline V-8 also outperforms the Hemi in torque output.

While competitors may hold numerical advantages in certain metrics, the Ram 2500 continues to distinguish itself through cabin quality, available technology, and overall driving refinement.

9. Mercedes-Benz G-Class

In U.S. markets, the G-Class is typically associated with luxury trims and large alloys. Yet historically, the model originated as a military and utility vehicle.

In global markets, steel-wheel versions look closer to the original design brief. When fitted with steel wheels, the G-Class regains a stripped-back, utilitarian authenticity that its squared silhouette supports remarkably well.

 

Testing was conducted on the G 550 equipped with the inline-six engine. Compared with prior V-8-powered G-Class models, the shift in engine character is noticeable, particularly in terms of exhaust note and overall acoustic presence.

From a performance standpoint, however, the updated powertrain delivers improved results. The test vehicle accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and completed the quarter mile in 13.7 seconds, both figures surpassing those recorded by the previous V-8 G 550.

Braking performance also shows significant improvement. The G 550 stopped from 60 mph in 108 feet, an impressive result for a vehicle of this size and weight.

On a handling course, dynamic limits were defined by substantial body roll and relatively modest tire grip. Ride quality retains a traditional, truck-like character but manages to absorb surface imperfections effectively without excessive harshness or unsettled behavior.
