Ford has issued two additional recall campaigns affecting several of its models, continuing what has been a difficult period for the automaker. The latest actions involve both a malfunctioning HVAC system and a defect tied to airbag functionality.

This development follows a recent large-scale recall covering more than 420,000 vehicles in the United States.

Despite Ford’s claims that it has been improving quality, the company continues to face ongoing issues. These new recalls, announced on March 31, add thousands more vehicles to the list.

The first recall is relatively limited in scope, impacting just 55 vehicles. It involves certain units of the Lincoln Aviator and Ford Explorer, where the HVAC system may stop working.

According to Ford, the issue stems from an improperly secured electrical ground joint connected to the blower motor during the instrument panel assembly process.

While a failed HVAC system may seem like a minor inconvenience, it can create safety concerns. Ford noted that the inability to defrost or defog the windshield could increase the likelihood of a crash.

The affected vehicles include five 2026 Lincoln Aviators produced between October 20 and December 18, 2025, as well as 50 2026 Ford Explorers built from October 19, 2025, to January 12, 2026.

Owners are expected to receive notifications starting April 10, and dealerships will inspect and properly secure the instrument panel joints.

The second recall is more substantial, covering 3,170 vehicles across two models: the Ford Bronco Sport and the Ford Maverick. This issue relates to a defect in the Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS), specifically a damaged bladder port that can interfere with the system’s ability to detect whether the front passenger is an adult or a child.

As a result, the front passenger airbag may be disabled, which presents a clear safety risk. Drivers may notice the issue if a Passenger Airbag OFF warning appears on the instrument cluster.

The recall includes 1,515 Bronco Sport models from the 2025–2026 model years, manufactured between July 29 and December 3, 2025.

It also affects Maverick models from the same model years, built between August 8 and September 11, 2025. Dealers have been instructed to replace the faulty Occupant Classification Sensor at no cost to owners.
