Restomodded Corvettes often follow familiar themes, but occasionally, a standout like this 1966 C2 emerges, defying expectations and setting new standards. Born in the twilight of the Corvette’s second generation, this C2 underwent a remarkable transformation under the expertise of Jeff Hayes and his customization business.
At first glance, the C2 retains its classic appeal, adorned in a sleek silver finish complemented by black accents. However, beneath its timeless exterior lies a modernized mechanical marvel.
Jeff Hayes Customs replaced the original chassis with an Art Morrison frame, integrating contemporary suspension components, power rack, and pinion steering, and Wilwood power disc brakes.
A power-actuated Stinger hood reveals a potent LS3 engine generating 540 horsepower, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Staggered Schott wheels, sized 18 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear, wrapped in red line tires, enhance both aesthetics and performance.
Inside, the C2 exudes luxury with red leather upholstery adorning the bucket seats, dashboard, and door panels, accented by carbon fiber elements. Dakota Digital gauges and an AM/FM Bluetooth stereo system provide modern functionality, while a black convertible top offers protection from the elements.
Completed in 2020, this meticulously crafted Corvette has been stored in a climate-controlled garage, accruing a mere 30 miles since completion. Now available for auction at Barrett-Jackson, this C2 offers enthusiasts an opportunity to own a truly exceptional piece of automotive history.
