This unique Chevrolet El Camino-Buick Regal hybrid combines the cargo bed and chassis of a 1986 El Camino with the bodywork and interior of a 1987 Buick Regal. Acquired by its late owner in 2008 and completed around 2010, this vehicle was finished in black paint and is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of an estate.
It comes with a window sticker, owner’s manual for the Buick Regal, refurbishment photos, and a clean Connecticut title listing it as a 1986 Chevrolet El Camino. The vehicle’s bodywork has been expertly modified, incorporating the cargo bed and chassis of the El Camino with the Regal’s body. A custom tailgate was fabricated using the Regal’s rear panel assembly before the entire vehicle was painted black.
Exterior features include body-color bumpers, dual side mirrors, a tonneau cover, and GNX badging. Notable imperfections include a scratch on the right quarter panel and wear in the bed. This modified El Camino rides on GNX-style 16″ black wheels with chrome trim rings, shod with 245/50 BFGoodrich Comp T/A tires. It is equipped with power steering and power-assisted front discs and rear drums handle braking.
Inside, the car features a gray cloth split-bench seat. Amenities include power windows, an AM/FM cassette player, cruise control, and air conditioning. The two-spoke tilting steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer reads 26k miles, though a mileage inconsistency is noted in an April 2024 Carfax report, leaving the total mileage unknown.
Under the hood, the 305ci V8 engine is fitted with a K&N air cleaner assembly, and the carburetor was rebuilt in preparation for the sale. According to the Carfax report, recent service in April 2024 included replacing the starter and fuel filter. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
The sale includes photos documenting the modification process, a window sticker, and an owner’s manual from the Buick Regal. The Carfax report for the 1986 El Camino notes the mileage inconsistency and includes history from May 1995. Additionally, a Carfax report for the 1987 Buick Regal indicates a junk title/certificate issued in November 2016. The seller offers this custom El Camino-Regal hybrid on behalf of an estate, presenting a unique opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts.
