A 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring, long lost to the annals of time, was finally brought to light. After three decades of slumber in a red-painted barn, the dusty, dented car was about to start on a new chapter.
Its owner, who hadn’t even considered driving it since 1991, was hoping for a smooth revival with a fresh set of spark plugs. However, the detailer, RJ, was skeptical, having heard that promise countless times before.
The Satellite, once a mid-size luxury contender, had been overshadowed by its more flamboyant siblings, but it still held a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts. As the car emerged from its dusty cocoon, a new journey was about to begin.
The Plymouth Satellite, a relic from the 1970s, had been languishing in a garage for decades. Covered in dust and grime, it was a far cry from its former glory. RJ and Mike, determined to restore it to its original state, began their journey. After a thorough cleaning and pressure washing, they uncovered the car’s original mustardy brown paint.
The vinyl top, stained and weathered, required extra attention with a degreaser and multiple washes. The wheels, oxidized and tarnished, were polished to a gleaming finish. A VIN decoder revealed the car’s engine: a 318-cubic-inch powerplant. The interior, a time capsule of the 1970s, boasted air conditioning and radio but lacked power windows.
The once-luxurious cabin was now a haven for mice, their droppings and chewed upholstery evidence of their unwelcome presence. The seats, covered in beige leather, were cleaned and repaired, but the driver’s seat bore the scars of years of use.
The carpet, riddled with holes, was a testament to the mice’s destructive habits. The WD Detailing team focused on restoring the chrome accents, polishing them to a brilliant shine. The paint, however, was beyond repair and would require a full restoration. With the detailing complete, RJ and Mitch delivered the car to its owner, a promising start to its journey back to its former glory.
