Hemi-powered Mopars from the muscle car era are highly sought after by collectors, but even rarer options like sunroofs can be equally desirable. While sunroofs were available from 1969, their popularity was initially low, with fewer than 5,000 units installed between 1969 and 1972.

Dodge Chargers accounted for over a quarter of these, with 1,256 units equipped. This particular 1970 Charger R/T, one of only 176 factory sunroof vehicles produced that year, was originally fitted with a sunroof but has since been restored with a replacement unit.

The replacement sunroof is not a period-correct Mopar part, having been sourced from a Mercedes-Benz. Despite the non-original component, the sunroof is said to function properly.

The Mercedes-Benz sunroof likely required modifications to fit the Charger’s body, but the exact nature of these alterations is unclear. It is possible that the Charger’s roofline needed to be modified to accommodate the sunroof’s larger size or shape, or that the sunroof frame required custom fabrication to fit securely in place. Regardless of the specific modifications, the result is a unique and rare muscle car that stands out from the crowd.

The Charger also has a vintage A/C unit, which is a great addition on hot days. Under the hood, the 440-cubic-inch RB V8 engine is a beast. It produces 375 horsepower and 482 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a column-shifted three-speed automatic transmission. The Charger is a very quick car, and it is capable of accelerating rapidly.

One of the most striking features of this Charger R/T is its stance. The car has been lowered slightly, giving it a more aggressive and muscular appearance. The brakes have also been upgraded to a power disc brake system, providing improved stopping power. The wheels are not original, but they do add to the car’s style.

Inside the Charger, the interior is in excellent condition. The seats are upholstered in Burnt Orange vinyl and are very comfortable. The car is equipped with a factory-look Bluetooth-compatible stereo, making it easy to listen to your favorite music. The Charger also has a vintage A/C unit, which is a great addition on hot days.
