Velocity Restorations’ series-production 1967-1968 Mustang restomod is a stunning blend of classic design and modern engineering. While its eye catching aesthetics and impeccable craftsmanship make it a dream car for many, its hefty price tag may put it out of reach for some.
Introduced in 1964, the original Mustang quickly became a cultural icon, revolutionizing the automotive world with its affordable price, stylish design, and impressive performance. The first generation fastback models, particularly those from 1967 and 1968, are still highly sought after by enthusiasts.
Velocity Restorations offers a modern interpretation of these classic Mustangs, combining the iconic styling with cutting-edge technology and engineering. Built on a state of the art assembly line, each restomod undergoes rigorous quality control and testing to ensure exceptional performance and reliability.
The Velocity Mustang, a meticulously crafted restomod blending classic style with modern technology, offers a thrilling driving experience. Available as both a fastback and a convertible, each Velocity Mustang boasts a meticulously engineered Roadster Shop chassis designed for ultimate performance.
With its independent front suspension and five link rear setup, the chassis delivers exceptional handling and a smooth ride. Upgraded Fox coil overs and beefy roll bars further enhance control, while the rack-and-pinion steering box ensures precise maneuverability. Powerful Baer disc brakes provide reliable stopping power, ensuring safety and confidence.
The Velocity Mustang’s retro inspired body retains its original charm while incorporating subtle enhancements. Holley RetroBright LED headlights, retro modern taillights with Shelby GT500-style sequential turn signals, new chrome mirrors, bumpers, windows, and modern weather stripping raise its aesthetic appeal.
Available in two distinct versions, the Signature Series offers a premium finish, classic-style wheels, and comfortable vinyl upholstery. The high end Street Series adds painted Le Mans stripes, flashier wheels, larger brakes, adjustable shocks, and a host of other enhancements. The convertible version features the Signature Series features plus a few borrowed from the Street and a modern hydraulic convertible top.
Under the hood, the Velocity Mustang packs a powerful 5.0 liter Coyote V8 crate engine, delivering a thrilling 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. This potent engine propels the Mustang to 60 mph in an exhilarating mid to high three second range. The Coyote’s power is channeled to the pavement through a standard Ford 10R80 10 speed automatic transmission or an optional Tremec T-56 six speed manual.
A Roadster Shop Ford 9-inch rear end with 3.73:1 gears ensures efficient power delivery. While the Velocity Mustang is undoubtedly a remarkable build, its price tag may raise eyebrows.
The Signature Series starts at $269,900, the Street Series demands at least $349,900, and the Convertible sits in between, starting at $299,900.
Although it’s a meticulously crafted restomod, its price may seem excessive compared to other options, including genuine, matching numbers, and fully restored classic Mustangs.
While the Velocity Mustang offers an exceptional driving experience, its high price tag may make it a less viable option for many enthusiasts.
