The Chevrolet Impala, a symbol of American automotive excellence, was already a sales sensation in 1963. Despite subtle styling changes, its popularity remained unwavering. Initially introduced in 1958 as a Bel Air variant, the Impala quickly ascended to the top of the Chevrolet lineup.

Its sales skyrocketed, reaching a staggering one million units in 1965 when the new generation debuted. While the 1963 and 1964 model years primarily focused on mechanical enhancements, particularly with the introduction of larger engines to power the Super Sport, the Impala’s appeal extended beyond performance enthusiasts.

Six cylinder variants continued to be offered, catering to those seeking a luxurious ride without compromising fuel efficiency. One such Impala, listed on eBay by seller xrolinlowx, presents an intriguing possibility.

Although the owner is uncertain whether the car was originally equipped with a six cylinder engine, its current configuration is undeniably impressive. Under the hood lies a period-correct 409 big block engine, capable of delivering up to 425 horsepower. This potent unit, paired with dual four barrel carburetors, perfectly complements the Super Sport’s performance oriented nature.

The Impala’s exterior, still sporting its original paint, is undeniably striking. While the owner claims it’s a “survivor,” the engine swap suggests otherwise. Nevertheless, the car’s appearance is impressive. However, given the age of the paint, a closer inspection is advisable to identify any potential issues.

The interior is equally well preserved, indicating the car’s previous owner’s meticulous care. More information about the Impala’s overhaul would be beneficial, but that can be ascertained during a personal inspection before purchase.

The asking price of $47,500 might seem slightly high considering the modified nature of the car. However, the big block engine upgrade is a significant enhancement. Depending on the inspection’s findings, the price could be justified.

If you have space, consider making an offer. Twelve people have added the Impala to their watchlists on the auction site, but it’s unclear if any have contacted the seller. The car is located in South Jordan, Utah.
