Blazin Rodz has transformed the classic 1970 Dodge Charger into a stunning modern masterpiece, named Sangria, revealed at the 2024 SEMA show. This Charger combines old-school aesthetics with contemporary design through a full carbon-fiber body and the first Direct Connection 1500 HEMI crate engine from DSR Performance.

With a staggering 1,500 horsepower and over 1,000 lb-ft of torque, Sangria is a showcase of both visual appeal and high-performance capabilities. The car’s exterior is painted in Wild Cherry Kandy by House of Kolor, a custom color that showcases the carbon fiber’s intricate weave, perfectly blending Mopar’s muscle heritage with modern innovation.

Under its sleek carbon exterior, Sangria packs a 426-cubic-inch GEN 3 HEMI engine with a stroked cast-iron block, enhanced by a 3.0-liter Stage 2 Gen 5 Whipple supercharger. This powerful combination brings exceptional acceleration and responsiveness.

Blazin Rodz paired it with a Pure Drivetrains Stage 2 ZF 8HP eight-speed transmission, capable of handling Sangria’s extreme torque and horsepower. According to Blazin Rodz’s operations manager, Scotty Zimmerman, this creation is about merging cutting-edge materials with classic Mopar heritage, resulting in a one-of-a-kind muscle car that balances style with performance.

Built on a Roadster Shop Fast Track Elite Series chassis, Sangria optimizes the benefits of its lightweight carbon-fiber construction. The updated chassis reinforces the Charger’s original design, enhancing stability, control, and cornering. Custom Kompression wheels measuring 20×9 inches at the front and 21×14 inches at the rear complete its sleek look.

Fitted with Pirelli tires (255/30R20 in the front and 355/25R21 in the rear), Sangria promises exceptional road grip and stability. The braking system is equally advanced, featuring Brembo carbon ceramic six-piston brakes, which ensure precise stopping power—a necessity for a car of this magnitude.

Inside, Sangria presents a minimalist design by Avant Garde Design, focused on luxury and simplicity. Sparco bucket seats align with the clean aesthetic, excluding large logos for a streamlined look. Despite this simplicity, Sangria offers comfort upgrades such as Vintage Air performance air conditioning, enhancing the driving experience. The audio system is premium too, with a Pioneer head unit connected to a TRU Technology amplifier and Morel HiFi speakers, delivering a high-fidelity sound experience suitable for audiophiles.

Priced at $895,000, Sangria has made its way to the Hemmings auction block, standing as a symbol of modern muscle ingenuity. Riccardo Salatino, Blazin Rodz’s master builder, shared that Sangria aimed to set a new standard by combining the benefits of carbon fiber with Mopar’s power legacy. This balance of innovation and classic craftsmanship makes Sangria not only a showstopper but a high bar for custom car builds.
