The 1953 Buick Skylark is a stunning 50s convertible that celebrates Buick’s 50th anniversary with exceptional style and luxury. Debuting in 1953, the Skylark was originally a “Dream Car” prototype and was produced in limited quantities, making it one of the rarest Buicks of the era.
Built on the Roadmaster chassis, it stood out with unique styling, including a lowered roofline, a more raked back look, and special chrome sweepspears.
Unlike other Buicks, it lacked the signature “Venti-Ports” and featured painted wheel housings. The Skylark was further distinguished by wide whitewall tires mounted on chrome wire wheels, enhancing its luxurious appearance. At the rear, modified quarter panels and special emblems completed the car’s unique design.
The interior was equally special, with luxurious touches such as power steering, power brakes, and a Dynaflow automatic transmission.
Buick produced only 1,690 Skylarks in 1953, each priced at $5,000. This particular example has been restored and is powered by a 322 cubic-inch “Nailhead” Fireball V8 engine producing 188 horsepower, paired with a Dynaflow automatic transmission.
The car is equipped with modern upgrades like a power brake booster for improved reliability and dual outside mirrors for easier maneuvering.
