This 1965 production 1600cc Veloce Spider stands out as a highly desirable classic, presented in a striking blue over red color scheme.
With meticulous restoration and attention to detail, it represents an outstanding example of mid-century sports car design, perfectly suited for shows, tours, or leisurely drives.
While the early history of this Alfa Spider remains unknown, it was first documented in 1974, registered to Robert Alan Wilenker of Fullerton, California.
Subsequently, the car was sold to Ken Koupal of Santa Fe, New Mexico, who, in 1984, passed it on to Gene Garfinkle of Newport Beach, California, for $15,000. At that time, the car was described as quartz grey metallic with a red interior, housing engine serial number AR 00121 01689—an engine that remains with the vehicle today.
Records suggest that Garfinkle purchased the Alfa Spider with plans for Koupal to perform some restoration work. Additional receipts reveal mechanical work undertaken by VRS of Van Nuys during Garfinkle’s ownership.

1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce Spider is on sale for $55,000 listed on Hemmings.com.
In 1992, the Spider changed hands again, sold to Jerry Lomas of Pasadena, California, before being acquired in the late 1990s by Tim Walker, a respected collector, restorer, and Pebble Beach judge.
Walker, in search of a prime Veloce Spider for restoration, discovered this well-preserved California car locally.
In 1998, MD Coachworks of Van Nuys completed the body and paintwork, while Walker himself handled much of the remaining restoration, focusing on achieving an exceptionally high level of detail.
Walker chose a striking dark blue exterior for the Spider, complemented by a professionally trimmed red leather interior. Alfa Romeo enthusiasts will appreciate the correctness of rare components such as lenses, bezels, and other ancillary details.
Today, the Spider remains in exceptional high-point condition, with only minor cosmetic imperfections. The car is remarkably correct and complete, though it lacks a soft top. Having seen limited use in recent years, it requires only minor sorting and servicing to be ready for enjoyable driving.
As a late-production Giulia Veloce Spider equipped with a 1600cc engine, twin Weber carburetors, and a 5-speed gearbox, this Alfa represents a versatile and exhilarating classic.
Whether for vintage tours, shows, or weekend outings, this beautifully restored Spider is a testament to the enduring allure of mid-century Italian sports cars.
