The refreshed iteration of the Czech family sedan will commence at less than €30,000, maintaining a slightly lower price point than the recently restyled Volkswagen Golf. Introduced in 2019, the fourth-generation Skoda Octavia has just undergone its mid-life update.

The French arm of the Czech automaker is now unveiling its starting price, set precisely at €29,880 for the 116-horsepower TSI petrol variant equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox in the “Selection” trim.

Skoda France details that four engine choices will be accessible at launch, comprising a mild-hybrid TSI option delivering either 116 or 150 horsepower, both paired with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox, alongside a 150-horsepower TDI diesel option with a dual-clutch transmission.

The pricing chart indicates that buyers can select between “Selection” and “Sportline” trims, with the estate variant costing between €940 and €1,260 more.

Upon its debut in France in 2020, the fourth-generation Skoda Octavia had a base price of €22,640 with a 110-horsepower petrol engine.

Already, commentators on Caradisiac were expressing concerns about the price hike compared to the previous model. However, amidst a period of significant increases in new car costs, the Czech vehicle endeavors to provide a commendable array of standard equipment.

This includes a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, dual-zone automatic climate control, Lane Assist, umbrellas in the driver’s and passenger’s doors, and the Smartlink system (Android Auto, Apple Carplay) wirelessly.

Nevertheless, adaptive cruise control is not included as standard. For comparison, the updated Volkswagen Golf commences at €29,990 with the same engine.
