Ford is marking the 60th anniversary of the Mustang with a special edition commemorating its debut year, 1965. Limited to just 1965 units, the Mustang with the 60th Anniversary package pays homage to its iconic predecessor. These special edition models will be available for order starting this summer and will enter production later this year.

While the pricing remains undisclosed, these exclusive editions will be offered on GT Premium coupes and convertibles. Painted in red, white, or blue, the exterior of the 60th Anniversary Mustangs features a tasteful gray, red, and silver trim palette. Notable visual elements include the 20-inch dark gravity gray five-spoke wheels with a red stamped aluminum center cap reminiscent of the 1965 models.

Fender and trunk badges echo the iconic “cloisonné” badges of the past, adding to the nostalgic charm of these special edition Mustangs. Side graphics come in silver or red, offering a personalized touch to each vehicle. Ford includes a serialized instrument panel badge for enthusiasts seeking authenticity, paying homage to the Mustang’s rich heritage.

The 60th Anniversary models also feature smoked Nite Pony headlights and a mesh grille design inspired by the original 1964 model. Interestingly, this special edition arrives amidst historical debate regarding the 1964 Mustang model year. While Ford began production in March of 1964, the cars built until July of that year differed significantly from the 1965 models.

Despite this, the 1964.5 Mustangs have become a part of the Mustang legacy, adding another layer of intrigue to the brand’s history. So, if you’re in the market for a Mustang this year, whether it’s a 60th-anniversary model or not, you’re becoming part of Mustang lore. Don’t forget to proudly display your Mustang’s heritage on your windshield placard for all to see.
