The people who make sure cars are safe in the U.S. are worried about some Ford vehicles. They say there have been complaints about diesel fuel leaking in 210,960 Ford cars. This leaking could cause a fire.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) got 27 complaints. Twelve of them said there were fires, and four people got hurt. Now, they’re going to look into Ford F-250, 350, 450, and 550 Super Duty vehicles with 6.7L diesel engines from 2015 to 2021.

The problem seems to be with a part called the secondary fuel filter. If it breaks in these cars, it could start a fire. This filter is close to places that get very hot in the car, which could make it catch fire by itself.

The NHTSA talked to the company that makes the filter, Allevard Sogefi USA. They found out that the filter isn’t tested to handle as much pressure as it could have to in the car’s fuel system.

Ford says they’re helping the NHTSA with their investigation. The company that owns Allevard Sogefi USA, Sogefi, hasn’t said anything yet.

This is just the first step in figuring out if these cars are really dangerous. They might find out they’re safe and not do anything else.

The NHTSA is also worried about another problem with some Ford SUVs. They recalled over 42,000 SUVs because of worries about fuel leaking, which could cause the engine to catch fire.

Ford’s plan to fix this problem didn’t satisfy the NHTSA. They said the plan doesn’t really fix the main problem and doesn’t say to replace the bad fuel injectors before they break.
