Steiner used to be the head of the Haas team from the start of 2016 until last winter. His contract ended after Haas finished last in the 2023 constructors’ championship.

But soon after, Steiner was back in the F1 paddock in Bahrain. He worked as an analyst for Sky Germany. He also conducted interviews with the top three drivers at the Australian Grand Prix.

Now, Steiner will be an ambassador for the Miami Grand Prix in May. This race is a recent addition to the F1 calendar, and Steiner will help promote it.

Steiner said, “I’m excited to be an Ambassador for the Miami Grand Prix. It’s one of my favorite races of the year. Formula 1 is growing a lot in the United States, and there’s a lot of potential for more growth, especially with races like Miami on the calendar.”

Steiner has lived in the United States for twenty years. He has a business there that deals with composites. He’s become famous among F1 fans because of his appearances on the F1 Netflix series Drive to Survive.

Even though he’s not working for a team right now, Steiner will still be a big part of F1.

The president of the Miami Grand Prix, Tyler Epp, said, “Guenther is well-known among F1 fans, and he’s a great fit for our race. He knows the sport well and has a clear idea of what F1 can be in America. Having someone like him involved in our event will make it even more exciting.”

In a recent article for F1.com, Steiner talked about enjoying his time away from working with Haas. But he’s open to coming back to F1 if the right opportunity comes along.

He wrote, “Life has been good since I left Haas earlier this season. I’ve taken a break from F1 for the first time in about ten years, and it’s been good for me. Looking back, I realize I stayed at Haas for too long. I would come back to F1 in the future, but it has to be the right project.”
