Andretti Racing’s F1 project faced a setback last October when F1 did not approve its bid in January, putting the project on hold. However, the team remains hopeful of joining the grid in 2026 if they can reach an agreement with F1.
Despite the uncertainty, Andretti Racing is moving forward with its plans. They recently opened a new facility at Silverstone, a significant step in their journey to enter F1. Previously, their design team worked in a temporary office at Silverstone Park.
Now, the team is transitioning to the new 40,000-square-foot facility, with the aero department already operating there. They plan to expand further into an adjacent 70,000-square-foot building. Manufacturing and car building will eventually take place in Fishers, USA, near Indianapolis.
If they secure an entry for 2026, Andretti Racing plans to use Renault power initially, switching to Cadillac in 2028.
Michael Andretti, the team owner, expressed his excitement about entering F1. He sees it as a significant milestone for the Andretti brand, completing its goal of competing in major racing events worldwide.
Dan Towriss, a partner at Andretti Global, emphasized the importance of the new UK base and the ongoing recruitment of talented individuals for the team.
The partnership with General Motors and the development of the Fishers facility are also crucial for Andretti Racing’s success.
Michael Andretti highlighted the advantage of starting fresh with the new project. He believes that building the team from scratch allows for new ideas and modern approaches. The collaboration with GM adds to the uniqueness of the project, as it aims to be an all-American team with American drivers, owners, and technology.
Andretti Racing is committed to building a competitive team and making its mark in F1, showcasing American talent and innovation along the way.
